We're now in Michigan! This is John Shepherd.
We will be vacationing with him and
his partner John Litrenta for several days.

Kicking back with coffee, our first morning at John and John's. John and John welcomed us with a big breakfast. - Here we are with John Litrenta. The main room of their house has large south-facing windows - so the room is very bright. We intended our first day to be one of relaxation - after nine days on the road. - Bill is following the plan! On the morning of our first day traveling with John and John - we come to the Mackinac Bridge which - connects the two peninsulas of Michigan.
We take a break to check out the bridge. - We still haven't crossed it; this is taken from the south side. It was 90 degrees out, so we didn't feel like getting - very close to each other for these photos! Could John be telling us why people - on that side call people on this side 'trolls'? - (Because they live under the bridge!) Crossing the Mackinac Bridge going north. - (They pronounce it Mackinaw, by the way.) Two things you gotta eat if you go to - the Upper Peninsula are smoked fish and pasties. - We first stopped at a country store to attack this fish.
We sat on the back stoop of the store and devoured the fish - clawing it apart with our fingers! At HOG Island? - Three happy longhair hogs. In late afternoon we got a campsite near Lake Superior. - John S. plunged in! It was COLD! Bill had a cut on his foot so he couldn't go in. - He really wanted to! So he put his hand in instead. The next morning we headed for Pictured Rocks National Park.
