This is a wide view of the Frankfurt skyline.  On the left, you see the Commerzbank tower. - The Commerzbank is Germany's second largest bank.  The tall building with the radio tower - on the right is the Maintower building, home of the public savings bank for the states of Hessen - and Thuringia.  We'll soon be going to the top of the Maintower building to check out the view. The symbol for the European Central Bank, in front of the Eurotower, - the location of the former ECB headquarters building in Frankfurt. - It used to be the home of the European currency, the Euro. We're approaching the Maintower building, where we will - take the elevator up to the viewing platform at the top. This is the view from the top of the 56 floor Maintower building looking west. - The building on the left is the tower of Deka-Gruppe, a company - providing mutual funds, and on the right the Deutsche Bank towers. Moving counter-clockwise, we see the main train station with the Main River on the far left.
You see a better view of the Main River here.  Note the white area above the tall - buildings far away in the background.  That is Frankfurt's international airport. This tall building is the Commerzbank Tower. The historic city center of Frankfurt, with the Main River - on the right.  On the left, note the tree-lined street which is - the pedestrian zone named 'Zeil' and the main shopping district. Looking north from the observation deck, note the historic - opera house towards the left of the picture.  It is now used for - distinguished concerts and other more fashionable events. In the distant view to the north you see the Taunus mountains rising at the horizon.
