Duck! Friday, October 8: - - We went back to Arches for the last time today, to see some arches we had not seen yet. We saw Sand Dune Arch, Broken Arch and Skyline Arch, and then we took a hike out to Landscape Arch, the longest one in the park, 306 feet from base to base. The trail to this arch was very wide and we heard lots of foreign languages on it. This let us know this arch has world renown. When we were at this arch in 1987 we could hike underneath it, but that isn't allowed anymore. A chunk of it fell down in 1991, so that is now regarded as unsafe. - - This afternoon, Tom, a friend of Chuck's from San Jose, arrived. He would be staying with Chuck for a week, so we will have two days where all four of us are sightseeing together.
