The road goes through small towns and past mountains. Near Brigham Young University we see the Mormon Temple. This is the famous Sunset Beach where they surf the Pipeline during times of high waves. - Of course, we often see bigger waves than this in San Francisco. A few were out trying to catch a wave even though they weren't that large.
On the west side of the island we came across a beautiful rainbow. We saw these tall antennas, but couldn't get close enough to see what they were for. - Due to their height, we presumed they were longwave - transmitting antennas to reach Navy ships far at sea. On the freeway heading back into Honolulu April 5 - Today we took the bus into downtown Honolulu. - This is a clock we saw in Chinatown. A store in Chinatown

We approach Aloha Tower, once the tallest building in Hawaii. - It's at the docks where ships used to arrive from the mainland - back before people flew in and arrived at the airport..
