The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. - Taking place in April, 1746, the Jacobite forces lead by Bonnie Prince Charley, fought - against an army commanded by William Augustus, loyal to the British government. - Meeting on Culloden Moor, the battle was both fast and bloody. Following an - unsuccessful charge, the Jacobites were routed and driven from the field. Our drive continues as we pass Loch Ness. (Loch means lake.) We did not see the Loch Ness monster. But wait -- what's this lurking in someone's backyard pond?
Today we're going to be driving south through the highlands - to the lowlands through some absolutely beautiful country. We hit a traffic backup in Drumnadrochis. They had to lift the draw bridge to allow this boat with the tall mast to pass through. This is something different -- a phone booth for email, text and phone. The Fort Augustus Bridge
