We enter Washington again as we head northeast along the river.

We spotted this interesting rock formation along the highway. We rise up into the hills and find lush green fields along U.S. Route 12. A historical point on the Lewis and Clark Trail.  They traveled through here on their return to St. Louis.
We're back in drier country again after passing over Alpowa Summit on U.S. 12. We travel along the Snake River June 18: We're in Clarkston, Washington, headed for Lewiston, Idaho.
We cross the Snake River and enter Lewiston, Idaho. U.S. Route 12 follows a beautiful canyon along the Potlatch River through the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. Bill had just bought this bandanna at a gas station and it happened to match his shirt.
