Friday, May 20, we head for Yosemite National Park, driving along CA Route 140 next to the Merced River

Interesting shadow formations from the trees on the hillside We arrive at the one way bridge that takes traffic across the river. It was - installed due to a rock slide that blocked the highway several years ago. We just missed the green light so had to wait for traffic coming the other way before we could cross the bridge. Here's a view of the rock slide that blocked the original highway Our first sign of snow
Granite rock lines the valley hillside above the highway Welcome to Yosemite National Park Natural rock tunnel just inside the entrance to the park The Merced River is flowing fast Larry next to the river
One of many waterfalls seen in the hills above the highway Another waterfall Our first stop was at Bridalveil Fall Lots of mist was generated from the fall
