At the end of Pier 39, past the shops and restaurants, you get a beautiful view of the bay.
In the distance you see, l to r, Tiburon, Mt. Tamalpais, Alcatraz and Angel Island.

   
Here you see the old liberty ship, SS Jerimiah O'Brian, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. A ferry coming into the terminal. The docks on the west side of Pier 39 are the home of the sea lions.  They moved - here after the 1989  earthquake, and can number from a few to several hundred. The sea lions have become a very popular attraction. Pat, Tracy and George at the huge Fisherman's Wharf sign.
One of the places to visit at the Wharf is the National Maritime Museum, part - of the National Parks System, where you can board the ships and look around. We're ready to check out the ships. The first one we visited was the Balclutha, a tall ship that used to sail between cities on the west coast. George is ready to be captain of the ship. Tracy is checking out the interior of the ship.
