Trip To Palm Springs, California

January 2 - 9, 2013

Part 1 of 6

On January 2nd, we drove from San Francisco to Bakersfield via I-580 and I-5
through the Central Valley.  We spent the night at a nice Best Western Hotel
in Bakersfield and then set out over the Tehachipi Mountains to the east, then
south to Lancaster and Palmdale and on to San Bernadino and Riverside and
then east to Palm Springs. We arrived at the Comfort Inn at about 4 PM.

Here's Bill and our car in the motel parking lot.

The motel pool that didn't see any use due to the cool 60 degree weather.

This is the view from the motel parking lot of the tree-less mountain that's just west of Palm Springs.

If you zoom in and look closely (see arrows) you can see people hiking up the mountain trails.

We spent Friday, the 4th, visiting with our friends Rick and Larry.
Here's a picture taken at lunch at a local Palm Springs restaurant.
Rick is on the left, Larry is on the right.

On Saturday, the 5th, Larry's 69th birthday, we took a trip to the Palm Canyons south of Palm Springs.
This is a view from the car as we are about to go through a rock passage on the way to the canyons.

Can you spot all of the hummingbirds flying around these feeders?
