About These Video Files

These files are in High Definition (HDTV). They are presently way too big for most people to enjoy watching on the Internet because most people have web connections that are too slow. Web technology is headed in the direction of higher speeds, though, and such speeds should be available to most people sometime in the next few years. With a slow web connection you can experience the quality of this video, though, if you are willing to wait for files to load.

If you decide to view any of these files, after you click on its link you will soon see the first frame of the video. Next you will have to wait for the video to load unless you have a very fast web connection. Once the video has loaded, you may have to push the play button to get it to play.

These videos are 1280 x 720, one of the usual resolutions for HDTV, one that is often called "720P". You may need to use your scroll bars, if the video is bigger than your computer screen, to see the controls on the bottom of the video or to see the part of the video you want to see. If you have your monitor set for a high resolution, you may see the entire video on your screen along with its controls without getting scroll bars.

Twin Peaks Road
16 seconds, 47.9 megabytes, 5 minutes to load with standard DSL. Walking along the Twin Peaks road on Easter Sunday. This is more sheltered from the wind than the next video.

Twin Peaks Trail
21 seconds, 62.5 megabytes, 7 minutes to load with standard DSL. Sitting on a Twin Peaks trail on Easter Sunday next to a clump of lupine. Here we learned you can't zoom and keep focus with the camera, and in the wind the mike is useless. The wind really blew my hair around, though, and that was pretty cool!

Diamond Head Trail
24 seconds, 70.6 megabytes, 8 minutes to load with standard DSL. The wind was blowing quite a bit with this one, too, although the few words I said at the beginning can be heard. This is not a lonely trail. Notice all of the people on the switchbacks above us near the end of the video.
